Sushma Swaraj slams Rahul Gandhi on his Advani comment

New Delhi | Union Minister Sushma Swaraj objected to Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi’s speech about BJP Veteran leader LK Advani and told him to “maintain some decorum”.

On the microblogging site Twitter, Sushma Swaraj wrote that Advani is our father figure, and his words have hurt them deeply.

This tweet comes after Rahul Gandhi’s speech at a poll rally in Maharastra, where he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had insulted his LK Advani disrespecting one’s guru is not Hindu culture.

Gandhi had said, “BJP talks of Hinduism. In Hinduism, the guru is supreme. It talks of guru-shishya tradition. Who is Modi’s guru? Advani. Joota maar ke stage se utara (Advani was kicked out from stage)”.

Gandhi’s remarks were a veiled reference to Advani not getting the Gandhinagar poll ticket, which he has been a sitting MP from since many years. BJP Chief Amit Shah has instead, replaced him.

The Lok Sabha polls will be held from 11th of this month and will go on in seven phases. The results of the counting will be announced on May 23.
