If Swamiji wants to speak about politics, let them join politics: HD Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru: Karnataka’s Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Thursday in his maiden press conference responded to the criticism by Panditaradhya Swami of Sanehalli Taralabalu Peetha and asked him to stop interfering in politics.

“I have noticed that swamijis, particularly one from the Davanagere belt, have been criticising the Congress-JD(S) coalition. I would ask swamijis to stick to their core ideology of protecting dharma (faith). If they want to speak about politics and the political situation, let them join politics.”Kumaraswamy told media.

“I am not in politics to appease any particular community and I request swamijis not to give scope for conflict in society.” he added.

Earlier Sanehalli Swamiji alleged that Kumaraswamy’s doublespeak on the farm loan waiver is unfolding like a political drama while expressing doubt over the longevity of the coalition government.

“When I said I cannot waive loans immediately, I meant a coalition government is in power. It does not mean I will not do it at all. The deputy CM and I will take a decision. Our government will look at the state’s financial position and waive loans in the best possible manner,” he said while clarifying that his government is committed to fulfilling his promise but it will take time.
