Telangana Congress hits out at TRS for ‘silence’ on opposition’s protests against NDA govt

KCR

Hyderabad | Hitting out at the ruling TRS in Telangana for its alleged silence on the opposition protests against the NDA government at the Centre, the Congress unit of the southern state on Wednesday said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao should hold a stir in Delhi or elsewhere against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the alleged injustices meted out to the state.

“When the entire opposition is raising its voice against the injustices being done by the BJP government, the TRS is aligning with PM Modi,” Telangana Congress treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy said in a statement. “When one state (Andhra Pradesh) is openly holding protests against the injustices, why KCR is supporting the BJP by remaining silent on the issue?” he asked.

Reddy alleged that Telangana did not get its due share in any of the five regular budgets and the latest interim budget of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.

He said it was highly regrettable that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MPs did not effectively raise their voice in Parliament and miserably failed to fight for the rights of the southern state.

In a first, BS Yediyurappa inducts three deputy CMs

TestHostEntry

Bengaluru | Last week Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa introduced his cabinet ministers, three weeks after his own swearing-in ceremony.

The list of ministers announced on Monday evening showed that the state will have three deputy chief ministers — Govind Karjol, Dr Ashwath Narayan and Laxman Savadi.

Mr Karjol has been assigned the PWD and social welfare ministries too. Dr Ashwath Narayan, very prominent at the time of the collapse of the coalition government Congress-JD(S), has been given the portfolios of higher education, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science and Technology. The Infotech and biotech portfolio is considered high profile, given Karnataka’s position as a leader in India’s IT space.

Laxman Savadi has been given the transport portfolio. The home department goes to Basavaraj Bommai.

Former chief minister Jagadish Shettar has got the industries portfolio, while Suresh Kumar, a former law minister of the state, will be in charge of primary and secondary education. C T Ravi, known for his right-wing views, is in charge of Tourism, Kannada and Culture.

Some BJP members are upset about not being given a cabinet position.

For a month, during which the parts of the state suffered devastating floods, Mr Yediyurappa ran a “one-man cabinet”.
