‘A Tsunami is Coming’: Rahul Gandhi On Coronavirus Epidemic

Rahul Gandhi said that India should not only be preparing for coronavirus but also for economic devastation which is coming like a tsunami.

New Delhi| Congress leader Rahul Gandhi compared the Coronavirus epidemic and economic slowdown to a Tsunami.

Rahul Gandhi said that India should not only be preparing for coronavirus but also for economic devastation which is coming like a tsunami.

The comments from former Congress president came when there have been around 126 people infected with Covid-19 and 3 have died because of the virus.

While speaking to the reporters, Rahul said, “The Indian economy is going to be devastated. You have no idea the painful thing the country has suffered and it is coming. It is like a tsunami is coming.”

To support his argument, Gandhi also narrated the story of the devastating Tsunami that swept the Andaman and Nicobar islands in 2004.

He further added, “The water is going to come and I have been warning the government … They are fooling about, they are not clear about what they have to do. India should be preparing itself not just for Covid-19 but for the economic devastation that is coming.”

“I am saying it again and again… I am sorry to say our people are going to go through unimaginable pain in the next six months,” Gandhi said.

Rahul has been aggressive on the government approach towards the outbreak of coronavirus. He had also hit out at the central government after the chaos at D-street last week due to coronavirus accusing the center of being in a stupor.

He has been vocal from his Twitter handle accusing the government on the economic front and handling of coronavirus situation.

He had tweeted, “I will keep repeating this. The coronavirus is a huge problem. Ignoring the problem is a non-solution.”
