“Twitter Interfering In Our Politics”: Rahul Gandhi Slams Social Media Platform After Being Locked Out of Account

Rahul Gandhi said that the recent instances show that Twitter is not a neutral platform or an objective one, which some people are using for their own benefit.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has slammed Twitter after the social media platform locked up his and his party’s accounts. On Friday, Gandhi, who was locked out of his account for 24 hours, issued a video statement accusing Twitter of interfering with the politics in the country. “This is an attack on the democratic structure of the country. This is not an attack on Rahul Gandhi. It is not just a matter of silencing my voice but of silencing millions of people,” Rahul Gandhi said.

The Congress leader further said, “As a politician I do not like such things. This is an attack on the democratic structure of the country. This is not an attack on Rahul Gandhi alone. It is not just a matter of silencing Rahul Gandhi. I had around 19 to 20 million followers and you are preventing them from expressing their opinion.”

Rahul Gandhi said, “With this move, Twitter has proved that it is not a neutral platform. This is a dangerous thing for investors because taking someone’s side in a political contest can have the wrong outcome for Twitter.”

The Congress leader said that our democracy is being attacked. He accused the govt of not allowing the opposition to speak in the parliament. Rahul Gandhi said that the recent instances show that Twitter is not a neutral platform or an objective one, which some people are using in their own way. He said the social media platform is biased and listens to what the current government says. “We should ask the question whether we can give the right to the companies to decide on politics because the government is with them? Do we want to define our own politics or do companies want to do so?” Rahul asked.
