Union Budget reflects PM Modi’s vision for India’s development: BJP

New Delhi | The Bhartiya Janata Party today termed the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as futuristic and reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for India’s Development.

BJP president Amit reacting to the Budget on his Twitter account wrote, The #BudgetForNewIndia clearly reflects PM @narendramodi’s vision for India’s development, where the farmers prosper, poor lead a life of dignity, the middle class get the due for their hard work and Indian enterprise gets a boost. This is truly a budget of hope and empowerment.”

Terming the budget as futuristic Amit Shah said that the Budget will provide a coherent roadmap for sectors that will drive growth and innovation among our citizens. He wrote,” The Budget presented by FM @nsitharaman is a futuristic one. It provides a coherent roadmap for sectors that will drive growth and innovation among our citizens. The emphasis on clean energy and cashless transactions are also steps in the right direction.”

Former Finance Minister and BJP leader Arun Jaitley said that the Budget will serve the larger interest of all sectors of the Economy. Jaitley on Twitter wrote, “Congratulations to the Hon’ble PM @narendramodi and FM @nsitharaman for the budget 2019-20. The budget besides being a policy document for boosting growth serves the larger interest of all sectors of the Economy.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reacting to the Budget said that it will fulfill the expectations of the people of the country. Speaking to News Agency ANI, Adityanath said,” It is for the first time since independence that a full-time woman finance minister has presented the Union Budget. I want to congratulate her. The budget fulfills the expectations of the people of the country.”

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari welcoming the promotion of electric vehicles in Union Budget on his Twitter account wrote,”The promotion of electric vehicles and allied infrastructure is set to transform the economy and logistics sector. It is one of the biggest steps to curb pollution and move towards sustainable development.”


Senior BJP leader and former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj responding to the Budget said that it will contribute towards the empowerment of women. Swaraj on her Twitter account wrote,” Heartiest Congratulations to Prime Minister and Finance Minister. This Budget will substantially contribute towards an unprecedented development of India particularly the empowerment of women and self-employment of our youth.”

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday presenting the first Budget of the Modi government in its second term raised cess on petrol and diesel by Re 1 per litre, while customs duty on gold was also increased to 12.5 percent from existing 10 percent. Sitharaman said surcharges on individuals having taxable income of Rs 2 crore to Rs 5 crore; and Rs 5 crore and more have been raised.

She also said there will be no merchant discount rate (MDR) charges on digital transaction made at big establishments having annual turnover of more than Rs 50 crore.

The finance minister also announced TDS (tax deducted at source) of 2 percent on cash withdrawal of more than Rs 1 crore from a bank account. She said faceless assessment of tax returns in electronic mode is being launched this year in a phased manner.
