BJP asks Murli Manohar Joshi to not contest Lok Sabha election

New Delhi | Veteran BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP Murli Manohar Joshi today in a shocking claim announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party has asked him to not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

In a note to the voters of his constituency, Joshi wrote, “Dear Voters of Kanpur, Shri Ramlal, General Secretary (Org.) Bharatiya Janata Party conveyed to me today that I should not contest the ensuing parliamentary election from Kanpur or elsewhere.”

Though Murli Manohar Joshi was the sitting MP from the Varanasi constituency in 2014 Lok Sabha election he was replaced by Narendra Modi. Joshi later contested from Kanpur Lok Sabha constituency defeated Congress’s Sriprakash Jaiswal by more than 2 lakh votes.

Joshi along with other veteran leaders like LK Advani and Yashwant Sinha were not given any ministerial post in the BJP led NDA government citing their old age. However, they were included in a newly formed ‘Margdarshan Mandal’.

Earlier LK Advani was also denied Lok Sabha ticket as BJP president Amit Shah replaced him from the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency.
