Watch: Cops Overrun By Mob On Day 2 Of Delhi Riots Where Head Constable Died

Some of the cops, in anticipation of the much bigger crowd, ran to the relative safety of the other side of the road at northeast Delhi’s Chand Bagh.

New Delhi| A mobile video has emerged showing hundreds of people surrounding a group of cops and attacking them at northeast Delhi’s Chand Bagh at the height of the violence over the controversial citizenship law.

Senior police officers Amit Sharma and Anuj Kumar, and head constable Ratan Lal cannot be seen in the video but they were reportedly present in the area. Ratan Lal was killed on the same day.

This group of policemen went to Chand Bagh to talk with the protesters against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA, sources have said. The situation, however, went out of control and the policemen found themselves outnumbered by the protesters, NDTV reported.

In the video, some women are seen throwing stones at the policemen.

The violence claimed at least 46 lives including one policeman and one IB official. Many schools, places of worship, shops, vehicles were vandalised.
