Will continue fight for Amethi in Parliament: Rahul Gandhi

Lucknow | Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his first visit to Amethi after facing a defeat against BJP’s Smriti Irani said that he will continue his fight for the people of Amethi in the Parliament.

Gandhi who visited his former constituency chaired a meeting with local leaders and discussed the possible reason behind his defeat after being elected from the same constituency for 3 consecutive terms.

During his address to the party workers, Gandhi said,”It is exciting to be in the opposition, there are many issues which we can raise and the workers should connect more with the common people and help them.”

Speaking on his relationship with the people of Amethi, Gandhi said,” I am not abandoning Amethi, I have served this constituency for 15 years and have a personal connection with the locals”.” Whenever the people of Amethi need my support I will be there, call me at 4 am and I will be present for you,” he added.

Targeting the Modi government, Gandhi said,” We all know the condition of our economy now. We are also aware of the corruption that is taking place in the current government.”

A 3-time MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi, Rahul Gandhi faced a defeat against BJP’s Smriti Irani by 50 thousand votes. However, he got elected to the parliament for Kerala’s Wayanad constituency.
