Guwahati| Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that Article 371 will not be tampered with. He was speaking at a rally in Guwahati, Assam. This article gives special status to all the states of Northeast along with Assam. He alleged that after the abolition of Article 370, the opposition parties started a campaign to spread the rumours of Article 371 being removed.
Addressing the 68th full-time meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shah said,
“After the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the people here feared that Article 371 would also be removed. I assure those people that there will be no tampering. “
‘Article 370 was temporary, while 371 a special provision’
Amit Shah said, “I had made it clear in Parliament as well and would like to say here that it will not be removed.” Article 370 was a temporary arrangement. While Article 371 is a special provision. There is a basic difference between the two. Narendra Modi government respects all the provisions under Articles 371 and 371 (a) to 371 (j). ”
