Rahul Gandhi calls data theft accusation an invention by BJP to divert attention from the killings of 39 Indians in Iraq

Randeep Surjewala, the communications in-charge of Congress retorted Prasad’s accusations terming BJP a “factory of fake news” and questioning its connection with Cambridge Analytica instead.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi today stated that the BJP government is alleging Congress of being linked to a dubious data analytics firm of Cambridge Analytica only digress from the controversy that was aroused regarding the death of 39 Indians in Mosul, Iraq. The organization of CA has been accused of mining private data of users of Facebook so as to sway the electoral process.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Union Minister had questioned yesterday Rahul’s link with the firm which has been alleged of mining data of users of Facebook to influence the elections.

Prasad questioned, “There were reports of sudden surge in Rahul’s social media following by using bots. Does CA have any role in building fake following of Rahul on social media? Will the Congress party now depend upon data manipulation and data theft to win elections?”

He tweeted yesterday, “This is not just a question of Congress Party’s association with a rogue data analysis firm but it is a question of free and fair elections in India and democratic values of our country”.

On the other hand, Randeep Surjewala, the communications in-charge of Congress retorted Prasad’s accusations terming BJP a “factory of fake news” and questioning its connection with Cambridge Analytica instead.

Surjewala told the media reporters, “CA’s linked website shows that in 2010 its services were used by BJP-JD(U). Firm’s Indian partner Ovlene Business Intelligence is being run by BJP ally’s MP’s son. OBI company’s services were used by Rajnath Singh in 2009”.

Cambridge Analytica stands to be a British firm which came under the radar after a probe by Britain’s Channel 4 was started and it accused the firm that it had harvested the personal data of 50 million users of Facebook during Donal Trump’s presidential campaign in the year 2016.
