R Praggnanandhaa, a 16-year-old chess prodigy, beat world champion Magnus Carlsen for the second time this year in the fifth round of the ongoing Chessable Masters. Praggnanandhaa defeated Carlsen earlier this year, and now he has beaten the Norwegian for the second time in three months.
Chessable Masters is an online rapid chess competition for 16 players. Carlsen and Praggnanandhaa were on their way to a draw when Carlsen made a major error on his 40th move and subsequently quit on his following move.
In February of this year, Praggnanandhaa defeated Carlsen in the Airthings Masters online quick event.
Carlsen is in third place with 15 points after Day 2 of the Chessable Masters, while Praggnanandhaa is in fifth place with 12 points.
Wei Yi of China is in first place with an 18-point score, followed by David Anton with a 15-point score.
