‘Lucky’ England wins 2019 World Cup in a nail biting Superover

London | In a nailbiting finale the English team won the 2019 ICC Cricket WorldCup by margins of boundaries after both the 100 overs and the Super over ended at a tie.

The English team scored 24 boundaries in the entire game compared to 16 boundaries by the Kiwi team. This is the maiden world cup victory for the English team since the inaugural Wolrd Cup edition in 1975.

Batting first in the Super over the English side scored 14 runs on the bowling of Trent Boult. Both Jos Butler and Ben Stokes hit one boundary in the over.

Chasing 15 in the Super over the match got ended after Martin Guptil got run out on the last ball of the super over when the Kiwi team needed 2 runs of the last ball.

Earlier after 100 overs of game, the match got tied as Mark Wood got run out on the last ball of the match. Cashing a target of 242 the English team scored the same runs as New Zealand thanks to Ben Stokes 71 runs.

New Zealand batting first in its second consecutive final once again put up a modest batting performance under overcast conditions to post 241 for eight against a quality England pace attack that kept on asking probing questions in the World Cup final here on Sunday.
