Tokyo| India’s 121-year wait to win a medal in athletics is over. Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra gave India a gold medal in this sport. He won the gold medal in the final with a best throw of 87.58m. Neeraj threw 87.03 meters in the first attempt and 87.58 meters in the second attempt. He threw 76.79 meters in the third attempt, fouls in the fourth and fifth, and more than 80 meters in the sixth attempt.

Jakub Vedlech of Czech came second with a throw of 86.67m. At the same time, Viteslav Veseli of Czech came third with a throw of 85.44m. Neeraj had thrown 86.65m in the qualifying round and finished first in his group. This has become India’s most successful Olympics so far. India won a total of 7 medals including 1 Gold, 2 Silver, and 4 Bronze. Won 6 medals in the 2012 London Olympics.
