Amending RTI is dangerous for democracy

The RTI Act 2005 empowered people to unearth wrongdoing, corruption, scams and more importantly brought transparency in policy formation and implementation by the government. The Modi govt. however, is trying to amend the act so that government can have a control over certain aspects for example transfer of the Chief Information Officer. Will these amendments take away the power of the citizen to question the government? Mr. Sujit Nair, Managing Editor of HW News Network, shares his take on the matter in this Editorial.
