The Rajya Sabha-upper house of the Indian parliament passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill on Wednesday. The Bill was passed with 125 MPs voting in favour of the bill while 105 MPs voted against it. The Bill since its introduction has sparked controversy. The Amendment proposed seeks to grant Indian citizenship to the refugees belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Jain, Parsi and Buddhist religion from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
