Editorial with Sujit Nair: MODI-fied Press Conference

In a first since he took the chair of Prime minister, narendra Modi addressed a press conference, surprisingly, with BJP chief Amit Shah besides him. But his unbelievable refusal to take any questions from the media was a disappointment. Instead of interacting he simply and bluntly dispersed what his views were regarding the party’s win in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Why would one need to do a press conference, something he hasn’t done in last five years, to say that the party will win? or Is this an indication that the party is ready to accommodate? Is it offering an olive branch to other smaller political parties for an alliance?
Amidst of this disappointing conference, Ashok Lavasa, Election commissioner refused to attend any meetings of the commission because of his dissent on the clean chit given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Pragya Thakur a main accused in the Malegaon Blast case has now been ordered to be present before the special NIA court at least once a week regardless of her contesting in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In this episode of the editorial, our Managaing Editor Mr Sujit Nair weighs in on these developments. #PragyaThakur #AshokLavasa #ModiPressConference
