In their second meeting held in Bengaluru, opposition parties have decided to name their alliance ‘INDIA’ for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, as reported. The name was agreed upon by all the leaders, although Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar needed a bit more persuasion compared to others. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge officially announced the name of the alliance as “”INDIA,”” which stands for Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance. During the discussions about the name, Nitish Kumar reportedly expressed reservations about using the acronym INDIA and including the letters NDA, which correspond to the ruling alliance. Eventually, he agreed by saying, “”All right, if all of you are okay with it (the name INDIA), then it is fine.”” The naming attribution is being credited to Uddhav Thackeray, Rahul Gandhi, and Mamata Banerjee, according to reports. Some sources suggest that it was Rahul Gandhi’s idea, which received approval from Mamata Banerjee. According to PTI reports, the opposition alliance’s tagline for the 2024 Lok Sabha campaign will be ‘Jeetega Bharat’ (India will win).
