Headlines: AIADMK’s Anti-CAA Poll Promise In Tamil Nadu Irks BJP

AIADMK released a populist manifesto for the April 6 Assembly polls on Sunday in a bid to defeat staunch rival DMK. However, one promise in the AIADMK manifesto is causing heartburn for ally BJP.

As part of its manifesto for the Tamil Nadu elections, the AIADMK said it would urge the Centre to scrap the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act.

The poll promise, seen as a bid to retain minority votes, has irked the BJP which was responsible for passing the law in the Centre. The criticism of the Citizenship Amendment Act, however, did not sit well with the BJP.

BJP general secretary CT Ravi said there was no question of scrapping the CAA, despite who was opposing the contentious law. #AIADMK #TamilNaduElections2021 #AntiCAA #WestBengal
