Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman today led a formation of the MiG-21 Bison during Indian Air Force Day celebrations at the Hindon Air Base near Delhi. The MiG-21 Bison is an upgraded version of the Soviet-era fighter jet. The Indian Air Force was set up on October 8, 1932. When it was formed, it had a strength of only six Royal Air Force-trained officers and 19 Havai Sepoys (air soldiers). The aircraft inventory comprised four Westland Wapiti IIA army co-operation biplanes. Apart from Abhinandan other pilots who took part in Balakot airstrikes have been included in the parade as a mark of tribute to the teams which carried out the strike on February 26. Indian Air Force Chief Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria will do the honours the IAF personnel with Gallantry awards for their achievements and contribution to the Forces. #IAF #AirForceDay #AbhinandanVarthaman
