Only 7.57% voter turnout was witnessed in Bhabanipur till 9am, while 16.32% was seen in Samserganj and 17.51% in Jangipur. Experts said that low polling percentage is generally witnessed during bypolls. Forces have begun route march in high rise buildings and low voter turnout areas. The battle for West Bengal’s high-voltage Bhabanipur bypoll began at 7 am as people queued up to vote. The by-election will see chief minister Mamata Banerjee and BJP candidate Priyanka Tibrewal square off in a hotly contested poll.
