Headlines: Withholding names of judges disturbs seniority: SC Collegium to Centre

The Supreme Court collegium has asked the Centre to expedite the pending appointments of judges, pointing out that withholding names of judges disturbs the seniority of the candidates. The Collegium, headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, recommended the names of four district judges for appointment as judges of the Madras High Court. It recommended the names of R Sakthivel, P Dhanabal, Chinnasamy Kumarappan, and K Rajasekar. “”Withholding or overlooking names that have been reiterated disturbs the seniority of judges,”” the Supreme Court Collegium noted. It also directed the Centre to take action at the earliest on clearing pending appointments.
