MahaYuti faces LS seat-sharing complexities

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are less than a year away and the tug-of-war for Lok Sabha seats in the states has begun among the Mahayuti partners. On Monday, Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief chief Eknath Shinde chaired a review meeting with his 13 MPs where his message was that the Shiv Sena, was the oldest ally of the BJP and should get 22 Lok sabha seats in Maharashtra out of a total of 48. In 2019 a united Shiv Sena fought on 22 seats and won 18. Out of which 13 are with Shinde now and the rest 5 are with Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena. The BJP had contested 25 seats and had tasted victory in 23 seats. But the difference now is there is a third partner that is Ajit Pawar’s NCP. And the united NCP had contested 19 seats out of which only 1 is currently with Ajit Pawar. Interestingly, the Sole MP with Ajit Pawar is Sunil Tatkare, who is also the state president of the faction had won the Raigad seat against Shiv Sena’s Anant Gite. Now Sources in the NCP Ajit Pawar faction speaking to HW News English have said Ajit Pawar has been insisting on 10-13 seats. BJP state chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule has set a target of 45 Lok Sabha seats for the MahaYuti. It will be interesting to watch the division of seats and which party will gain the most from the tri-party alliance. If we go according to the recent past the Ajit Pawar-led NCP has gained the most in a short span. Be it lucrative portfolios or be it the appointment OF Guardian ministers. ”
