Biggest public hearing in Mumbai to save Aarey forest

In a unique protest against the illegal cutting down to tress in the Aarey colony, thousand of Mumbaiker gathered in a public hearing against the Metro Line 3 car shed. People from all walks of life including students, activist, working professionals, Senior citizens, tribals and even Bollywood celebrities were present at the hearing.The protesting citizens submitted More than 37,000 objections to the Tree Authority at Byculla Zoo (Jijamata Udyan) The gardens department of the BMC’s had invited objections from people over the proposal put forward by the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRC) to cut down 2,702 trees of the total number of 3,691 at the site of the Metro project. Congress president too, on Friday said that in this hour of grief, the party stands with the government of India. On Saturday, leaders across the party lines paid their last respects to the martyr soldiers.

Pulwama attack: NIA investigates site of explosion

While the toll in the suicide attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama attack has gone up to 40, preliminary investigation have found out that explosives might have been used. Meanwhile, the teams of NIA and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory also known as CFSL have arrived in J&K to inspect the site of the explosion. The agency is also trying to determine why a stretch of 15 kms on the national highway which is from Pampore to Pulwama has been specifically used to target the security forces multiple times.

All-party meeting on Pulwama attack begins

The Centre has called an all-party meeting that started at 11am to deliberate upon the situations arising out of the Pulwama terror attack . In the meeting, the Narendra Modi-led government will brief the Opposition leaders about the action being taken to tackle the situations after the attack. This is first of its kind meeting held by the NDA government. It has been two days since at least 40 CRPF jawans were killed in a suicide bombing in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama.
