BJP-Shivsena Alliance finally sealed; BJP 25 while Shivsena to contest 23 seats


After four years of brickbats the two parties are coming together to form an alliance once again.
Today, Shivsena and BJP conducted a joint press conference in Mumbai and formally announced their alliance. Shivsena Chief Uddhav Thackeray, BJP Chief Amit Shah and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis were present at the spot. Before the press conference, the top leaders of both parties including conducted a meeting at Sofitel hotel in the Bandra locality. The meeting went on for about 45 minutes. Announcing the alliance, Fadnavis said that both the parties are in an alliance for 25 years and Hindutva has been a common thread between them. Uddhav Thackeray addressing the media said that the party wants that Ram Mandir should be built at the earliest. On the other hand, Amit Shah expressed confidence that the alliance will win 45 seats in the state.
Shivsena will contest 23 seats and BJP will contest 25 seats. For assembly, however, both have agreed on a 50-50 formula after distributing seats to smaller alliance partners.
