CM Yogi Adityanath Announces Compensation for Dead and Injured in Kannauj Bus Accident

UP CM Yogi Adityanath says will offer compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to families of deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

Kannauj| Around 20 passengers are feared to be dead after fire broke out due to collision of private sleeper bus and a truck in Chiloi Village which comes under Chhibramau Police station, the police informed.

Kannauj Superintendent of Police Amrendra Prasad Singh informed that around 20 people are feared to be killed while 21 have been rushed to the hospital. He also went on to add that around 10-20 people out of injured 21 tried to jump out of bus through the window after bus caught fire. SP said that exact numbers of casualties will be reported later.

The 45 passengers were travelling to Jaipur from Farrukhabad whenthe said incident happened.

The police said that a DNA test will be conducted to identify the passengers and exact death count. “The bodies are badly burned, their bones are scattered, so only a DNA test will determine the death toll. Prima facie bodies of 8-10 people seem to be on the bus but the damage is so extensive that casualties can be determined only through DNA test,” Mohit Agarwal, IG Kanpur range said.

Yogi’s Minister Ram Naresh Agnihotri has rushed to the spot of incident. He also asked the Kannauj DM for complete report.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath has declread a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. Calling the incident unfortunate, he also expressed his condolences to the families of deceased.

Mohit Agrawal, Kanpur’s range Inspector General of Police said that the 21 people have been rescued and rushed to the hospital so far. The families of victims are being informed.
