Farm Protests Spread To Southern India, Karnataka Farmers Oppose New Laws

The anger over farm bills continues to spill over streets across the country. The Agitations by farmers have intensified after President Ramnath Kovind on Sunday gave assent to the three controversial bills hailed as Agriculture reforms by the modi govt. With this, the three bills are effectively now a law. While the farmers of Punjab and Haryana have been protesting against the laws, now farmers from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu too have joined in as they hinted at intensifying the agitation. Today over 100 farm organizations gave a call for Dawn to dusk shutdown across various districts in the state.The statewide bandh was called to protest against the amendments to the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee Act and land reforms acts made by the B S Yediyurappa government.
