“Free Caged Parrot”: Madras High Court’s 12 Point Suggestion For Modi Govt For Independent CBI

India’s premier investigation agency the Central Bureau of Investigation is often criticized as a Caged Parrot. the Phrase was used by former CJI RM Lodha to describe the agency in 2013. Now I’ll come back to the story to explain the context in which the phrase was used. But this stuck to the CBI and the agency couldn’t wipe off the stamp of caged parrot from its image to date.
Today, the Madras High Court called on the Central govt, the mode govt to free the caged parrot that is the CBI. The two-judge bench recommended that the CBI should only be accountable to the parliament. It also issued 12 points recommendations for improvements. The bench of justices N Kirubakaran and B Pugalendhi said: “This order is an attempt to release the “Caged Parrot (CBI).”
What were the recommendations by the Madras HC, what was the context around it and why the CBI is called a Caged parrot, we will discuss it in today’s video. #CBI #MadrasHC #ModiGovt #CagedParrot #ElectionCommission #CAG
