“No matter how many times our political leaders give the slogan of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao; every time, there is an incident to prove how hollow the slogan is. These are the visuals from a Mohalla in Delhi’s Sangam Vihar. The walls of this mohalla are covered with posters seeking Justice for Rabiya. There are few locals protesting nearby demanding justice for Rabiya. For the last few days, the #JuticeforRabiya is also trending on Twitter. People are sharing appeals from the friends and family members of Rabiya who are seeking truth. The truth of what happened to Rabiya. Activists, locals have raised their voices for Rabiya. Political leaders are queuing up to meet her family and console them. Promises of support are being made by them. There’s anger, there’s despair and there’s demand for justice. But none of this seems to move the Delhi Police. Probably, the administration thinks that protests will happen, slogans will be given, politicians will visit, and in few days people will forget. And that is exactly why today we will talk about Rabiya. Who was She, what happened to her?
