Karnataka is a mess which is a doing of BJP itself. The party has no one else to blame. BJP tactics of grabbing power at all costs and the infamous principle of divide and rule is now hounding the power that be.
Karnataka elections to the state assembly are about twelve months away. Political activity is picking up and especially the BJP like an early start to its campaign. However, this time around the party has too much on its plate to even think about elections.
Basavaraj Bommai, the Chief Minster, is facing the brunt of the dissent from their MLAs. Earlier, BJP leadership has unceremoniously shunted out BS Yeddyurappa on the grounds that he had exceeded the cutoff age of seventy-five years; something that did not go down well with Yeddyurappa.
Today, on May 3, 2022, Amit Shah is rushing to Bangalore. Rumors say that there will wide-spread changes in the party and a possible change of state leadership.
The issues are many viz.
All turncoats of 2019 were given ministerial berths neglecting the cadre-based politicians loyal to BJP for years.
The much-awaited cabinet expansion has still not happened even after 10 months of Bommai reign.
Development is the state has been tossed out of the window. Good governance is totally missing.
High degree of corruption allegations. Minister Eswarappa was made to resign on charges of corruption made by a contractor who later committed suicide.
Key and favoured BJP leaders from the state interfere with day-to-day operations.
Then the issues related to hijab, attack on Muslim traders by Hindutva groups, love-jihad, Muslims shops outside temples, halal meat, and the bible row – all are being raked up to distract people from the mis-governance issues.
