“It is the sixth day since Lakhimpur violence in which four farmers were mowed down by the speeding car of Union Minister’s son. Till today, the Prime Accused in the case, Ashish Mishra aka Monu Mishra remains free. In fact, the crime branch unit of UP Police had issued a summons and had called Ashish Mishra to appear for investigation in the Crime Branch headquarters. A notice of the same was pasted outside his residence. However, Ashish Mishra did not turn up for the investigation. The police has now against pasted a summons outside his residence and asked him to appear for investigation tomorrow at 11 AM. Meanwhile, there are some speculations that Ashish Mishra might have absconded to neighbouring Nepal. There is yet not confirmation of this but these are speculations. On the other hand, Supreme Court today slammed the UP Police for its high handedness in handling the Lakhimpur case. The court clearly spelt out its dissatisfaction over the investigation done by UP Police. It also reminded the police its duty and how a common man accused of murder would be treated by police.
