LIC’s Shareholding Value In Adani Companies Dips 11%, Less Than Purchase Value Now

About three weeks back we had done a video on LIC’s investment in Adani group company shares and SBI’s exposure to it. This was done as the value of Adani group company shares were consistently falling after the Hindenburg research report accused Adani of stock manipulation and corporate fraud. In light of this we had explained in the video, how much investment LIC has in different adani companies and its value. A lot of people in the comment said that it is only a notional loss, so far as we don’t know the real value at which it was purchased. Today, the Indian Express reported that for the first time, the value of LIC’s shareholding in 5 Adani group companies has dropped below its purchase value. The report says Market value of LIC shares in Adani group companies was about 72000 Crore a day before Hindenburg report hit. In February 2023, i.e. in just about three weeks it has come down to around 26000 crore. Which means loss of around 36000 Crore in three weeks. But it has even gone below the value at which it was purchased, the report says.
