Rekha Sharma, the chairman of the National Commission for Women (NCW), has come under heavy fire after some Twitter users dug out her old sexist tweets. Sharma has eventually deleted most of these tweets and locked her Twitter profile. Now, the Twitter profile of Sharma is private and reads “the tweets are protected”.
The chief of the apex body for women has been massively criticised for her old tweets making fun of women, cracking jokes on politicians, including PM Modi and Arvind Kejriwal.
The old tweets started resurfacing on Twitter after Rekha Sharma met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in Mumbai on Tuesday and discussed the “rise” in ‘love jihad’ cases in the state among other issues.
