On July 7, the government issued a notification to include the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). This move aims to enable the sharing of information between GSTN, the Enforcement Directorate, and other investigative agencies. The amendments primarily focus on the provisions outlined in Section 66 of the PMLA, which deal with the disclosure of information. In November of the previous year, the government expanded the list of agencies covered under this section to include 15 additional organizations such as the Competition Commission of India, National Investigation Agency, Serious Fraud Investigation Office, State Police, Director General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of External Affairs, National Intelligence Grid, and Central Vigilance Commission. The purpose of including these agencies was to facilitate the exchange of information between them and the Enforcement Directorate.
