Nanavati Commission gives “Clean Chit” to PM Modi, says “Godhra Riots not organized”

The Final part of the report presented by the Nanavati Commission was tabled in Gujrat Assembly today. The Commission was tasked with inquiry into the riots that broke out in Gujrat after 2002 Godhra train burning. The report comes as a relief to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was then Chief Minister of the state. The commission report gives the then Gujrat govt led by Chief Minister Modi and says that the riots that followed after train burning were not organized. It says that the State administration had taken all necessary measures to control the situation. The Commission observed that the police was ineffective at some places, lacked competence to control mob violence. There was also lack of eagerness on the part of the police to deal with mobs during 2002 riots. #PMModi #GujratRiots #Godhra
