Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah is set to be the next Karnataka chief minister, according to sources. DK Shivakumar, another contender for the top post, will be offered the deputy chief ministerial post, according to sources. He is expected to get important portfolios in the state Cabinet, sources added. Siddaramaiah’s swearing-in is likely to take place on Thursday. A meeting of all the 135 Congress MLAs is expected to be held on Thursday. Both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar separately met party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi. Party leader Randeep Singh Surjewala said a new Karnataka chief minister will be sworn-in in 24 hours and a new state Cabinet will be in place in 48-72 hours.
