“We are here to address concerns of this dictatorial govt’s action”, Congress ahead opposition meet

The Congress party has announced that a mega meeting of opposition parties will take place in Bengaluru for two days, beginning on Monday. The purpose of this gathering is to collectively challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh addressed the media in Karnataka’s capital and dismissed certain reports suggesting that some senior leaders would not attend the meeting on Monday but would join on Tuesday. The initial mega opposition meeting was organized in Patna on June 23 under the leadership of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal confirmed that the upcoming Bengaluru meeting is a continuation of the discussions held in Patna. He mentioned that the meeting would commence at 11 am and would see participation from 26 political parties across India. Ramesh firmly refuted the reports claiming the absence of senior leaders on Monday, assuring that the meeting would indeed take place on that day. There were speculations about Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar attending the Bengaluru opposition meeting on July 18.
