Why FCRA License of Centre for Policy Research Revoked???

Months after the Income Tax raid, the Centre has now reportedly cancelled, the FCRA license of Centre for Policy Research. The Economic Times report, quoting sources said, the license was under scrutiny after Income Tax surveys on CPR and Oxfam India in September last year. Oxfam’s FCRA licence was revoked in January 2022, after which the NGO had filed a revision petition with the home ministry. Officials said that CPR’s license was revoked recently citing non-compliance of FCRA norms. The society had filed for renewal.That modalities are being worked out for CPR to utilise the funds received in FCRA account. As per CPR’s filing, the FCRA received in their account for the period October to December 2022 was Rs 1,010 lakhs which included donations from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, University of Pennsylvania, World Resources Institute and Duke University among others. CPR also receives grants from the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR), and is a Department of Science and Technology (DST) recognised institution.
