Will Prime Minister Narendra Modi contest 2019 elections from Odisha’s Puri?


As India entered 2019- the year of major electoral action, the political circles are buzzing with speculations surrounding the constituencies the major player would contest from. The most heard speculation is that Prime Minister Narendra Modi might contest from Odisha’s Puri. Now, back in May 2018, when Karnataka Assembly elections were over the speculations first started appearing. However, they were dismissed by the BJP chief Amit Shah.
Time and again there has been news about Modi thinking of shifting his parliamentary constituency. But the speculation received a major push after senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Odisha MLA Pradip Purohit said that people of Odisha want the Prime Minister to fight elections from Puri. He further said that there is 90% possibility that the Prime Minister may contest from Puri. In this show, we will try and examine how the numbers will possibly be affected if Modi decides to contest from the Odisha’s beach town.
