Iltija further said, “Sajjad Lone was assaulted. His new prison windows are closed with wood. He was not given heaters.”
Srinagar| The 34 leaders detained in Jammu and Kashmir were shifted from a hotel in Srinagar to a government guest house on Sunday as the valley is suffering from severe cold. They were detained on 5 August after the abrogation of Article 370. These leaders also include former Kashmir ministers and MLAs. Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter Iltija Mufti tweeted accusing that the police beat up the leaders during the shifting. Iltija said that Sajjad Lone, Shah Faisal and Waheed Para were manhandled. However, the police denied these allegations.
Sajjad Lone’s party says that Lone was beaten in the name of security checking. Iltija said, “Is this how you treat elected leaders, why disrespect them? This is the same Waheed Para, who was praised by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh for strengthening democracy. This is the same Shah Faesal who topped UPSC and was called the role model of Kashmir. He was once appreciated and now insulted. ”
‘Can not guess the plight of others’
Iltija further said, “Sajjad Lone was assaulted. His new prison windows are closed with wood. He was not given heaters. If a man whom Prime Minister Modi described as his younger brother was treated like this, then the plight of others can be gauged. ”
2.65 crores spent on politicians’ hotel bill
The leaders who have been shifted hostels include people from other political parties including the National Conference (NC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and People’s Conference. Demand from National Conference – Send Farooq and Omar to parliament
