National Conference moves to Supreme Court over Article 370 abrogation

National Conference MPs Akbar Lone and Hasnain Masoodi filed the petition on behalf of the party. The petition claimed the centre’s move was “illegal”. 

 

New Delhi| Omar Abdullah‘s National Conference has appealed in the Supreme Court against the government’s move to abrogate Article 370. Article 370,  conferred Jammu and Kashmir with special status. However, Modi govt’s decision has not only stripped J&K off special status but will also divide the state into two union territories.

National Conference MPs Akbar Lone and Hasnain Masoodi filed the petition on behalf of the party. The petition claimed the centre’s move was “illegal”.

Omar Abdullah and another former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and hundreds of political leaders are under arrest as the state remains in curfew.
