Dharamshala: Himachal Pradesh is all set to witness assembly polls on November 12. There are total 68 seats for which Himachal will be voting. The term of the 13th Assembly will expire on January 8, 2023. The Election Commission of India has announced the dates already and said that voting will be held in one phase only. The results will be out on December 8.

There shall be a maximum of 1500 electors in a polling station, the Election Commission mentioned in a statement.

Himachal Pradesh 2022 Poll Schedule 

The Gazette Notification was issued on October 17, 2022.

By October 25, 2022, nominations were filed and scrutiny of nominations was done by October 27, 2022.

Candidature withdrawal was done by October 29, 2022.

Voting will be held in one phase on December 12 and results will be out by December 8.

On November 9, 2017, Himachal Pradesh voted to elect its legislative assembly. The BJP defeated the Congress and won 44 seats in the 68-member Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly election in 2017, while the Congress received only 21 votes. The BJP won by securing 48.79% of votes followed by the Congress securing 41.68% of votes and Independents securing 6.34% of votes.

As of now, in the Assembly, the Jairam Thakur-led BJP regime has 45 MLAs. The Congress has 22 and CPI(M) has one.

The Aam Aadmi Party is also battling this election.

A total of 55,92,828 people will be voting. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Maneesh Garg said the voters include 27,37,845 women, 28,54,945 men, and 38 third gender, with 67,559 of them service electors and 22 NRIs. Around 56,501 are PwD voters. There are 1.93 lakh first-time voters. CEO said there are 701 electors per polling station on average.
