Over the weekend, a minimum of 20 individuals lost their lives due to lightning strikes in various districts of Gujarat, as the state grapples with unexpected rainfall, as reported by an official to news agency PTI.
The State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) disclosed that the fatalities, resulting from the intense unseasonal downpour on Sunday, totaled 20 and were spread across different districts of Gujarat. The SEOC official presented a district-wise breakdown of the casualties: four in Dahod, three in Bharuch, two in Tapi, and one each in Ahmedabad, Amreli, Banaskantha, Botad, Kheda, Mehsana, Panchmahal, Sabarkantha, Surat, Surendranagar, and Devbhumi Dwarka.

Expressing condolences for the tragic loss of lives, Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured that local authorities are actively involved in relief and rescue operations.
