It’s been 24 hours since Mumbai’s Powai was shaken by a shocking hostage crisis. 50-year-old Rohit Arya held 19 people captive, demanding answers and claiming the Maharashtra government owed him 2 crore rupees for a project. He was later shot dead in a police encounter, and the Mumbai Crime Branch has now taken over the investigation. The name of former Maharashtra Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar has also surfaced in the case. Kesarkar confirmed he had paid Arya but said he should never have taken such an extreme step.
HW News’ Shubham Chohan speaks to a 75-year-old woman who, along with her young granddaughter, was among those held hostage, and to the woman’s son-in-law. They recount the harrowing hours inside Powai’s RA Studio and reveal what really happened behind closed doors.
