New Delhi| Addressing a poll rally in Delhi on Sunday, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath said that those who attack kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva) will have to face bullets. He also termed the Shaheen Bagh protest a ‘malicious attempt to disturb the peace and normal life’
“We do not obstruct anyone’s festival or faith. Let everyone celebrate festivals within the framework of the law. Lekin Shiv bhakto par goli chalayega koi vyakti, danga karayega, boli se nahi manega toh goli se toh maan hi jayega [If anyone opens fire at devotees of Lord Shiva or cause riots. If they don’t listen to words, they will be dealt with bullets]. Devotees do not believe in rioting. We guarantee safety to the Kanwariyas.” assuring protection to Kanwariyas(devotees of Lord Shiva), Yogi Adtiyanath said.

Adityanath has become the third BJP leader in recent days to threaten about using bullets against dissenters, after Union minister Anurag Thakur and MP Parvesh Verma.
Kanwariyas are Lord Shiva devotees who walk to the river Ganga once a year in the month of Shravan. In recent years, there have been several reports of clashes between kanwariyas and local people.
