The Police officer caught with Hizbul and Lashkar terrorists said that he was with them because he was organizing their surrender.
New Delhi| The J&K police officer caught with two terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen & Lashkar-e-Taiba has said in his initial probe that he had convinced the terrorists to surrender. The police investigation has revealed that no higher-up officer was kept in the loop about his plans.
In his preliminary interrogation, Singh said he was accompanying Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Syed Naveed Mushtaq and terrorist Rafi to organize their surrender. “He has made this claim of surrender but we are investigating,” an officer explained.
J&K police are investigating the case with IB and other intelligence agencies. According to sources, the two terrorists have denied Singh’s claim that they were surrendering.
“Preliminary probe shows Singh offered help to the terrorists to cross Banihal tunnel in lieu of money,” a Jammu and Kashmir police informed.
Officials said that Singh had agreed upon the amount of 12 lakh. Singh was present himself in the car with terrorists hoping no one will stop them if a DySP is in the car.
“No one in the police or agencies was kept in the loop about his plans,” a source informed. Joint Investigation Team has found that Singh had no authorization to organize the surrender of Hizbul terrorists.
A former cop named Naveed Babu, who’s now a Hizbul terrorist, has revealed that they offered money to Singh for safe passage through the valley.

An initial probe has revealed that Singh may have offered safe passage to the terrorists in five other instances and ferried them out when the army-police operation increased in Kashmir.
Officials revealed that the terrorists were staying at Singh’s place before they traveled in his personal vehicle. The probe is being conducted to verify whether the terrorists had any plans of attack on Republic day and if Singh was aware of it.
Police officers said that police often infiltrate the terrorist groups to get intel but Singh’s case has raised eyebrows since his name has come up earlier as well in similar cases.
Singh also has a connection with the Afzal Guru case. Afzal had named Singh in the parliament attack conspiracy as well as accused him of torture and threatening.
In 2015, Singh had been accused of extorting money from the truckers and threatening them of implicating under terror charges if they didn’t pay money.
