Dr Manmohan Singh said that the Government’s decisions and actions will have serious bearings on how the future generations perceive us.
New Delhi| Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in a statement today asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure justice for Col. B. Santosh Babu and other Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives to defend India’s borders. In the sharp-worded letter, Dr Singh also criticized Modi government’s handling of the communication and diplomacy post the Galwan Valley incident.
Highlighting that we are at a historic crossroads, Dr Manmohan Singh said that the Government’s decisions and actions will have serious bearings on how the future generations perceive us. “Prime Minister must always be mindful of the implications of his words and declarations on our Nation’s security as also strategic and territorial interests,” the statement read.

This was in reference to Prime Minister Modi’s statement at the all-party meeting saying that there was no incursion and no Indian post was held by Chinese. The PMO, however, had clarified the statement later saying that it pertained to the Galwan valley incident of June 15th Only.
“The Prime Minister cannot allow them to use his words as a vindication of their position and must ensure that all organs of the Government work together to tackle this crisis and prevent it from escalating further,” Dr Singh said.

He said that we should not be “cowed down by threats and intimidation” nor permit a “compromise with our territorial integrity”. Calling for a united response to the threat, Dr Manmohan Singh said, “…disinformation is no substitute for diplomacy or decisive leadership. The truth cannot be suppressed by having pliant allies spout comforting but false statements.”
Dr Manmohan Singh’s letter came in the light of increased pressure by Congress on the Modi Government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has continuously been questioning the Government’s response to Chinese aggression. On Sunday, he even targeted PM Modi calling him “Surender” Modi. The tweet came a day after he said that PM has surrendered in front of Chinese aggression.
