“Fadnavis became CM for 80 hrs to divert 40,000 cr to centre,” says Anantkumar Hegde

“Fadnavis knew that if the ShivSena-NCP-Congress government was formed, it would misuse the funds earmarked for development. So this drama was done,” Hegde said.

Mumbai| The political landscape in Maharashtra witnessed a major development a week ago as Devendra Fadnavis backed by NCP leader Ajit Pawar took oath as the CM of Maharashtra. However, he couldn’t remain a CM for more than 80 hours as Ajit Pawar returned to NCP fold. While in Maharashtra this is being looked at as BJP conceding defeat to the newly formed MahaVikasAghadi, Karnataka BJP leader has come up with a different theory.

Karnataka BJP leader Anant Kumar Hegde talking about Devendra Fadnavis becoming the chief minister for Maharashtra for a short term said that many people are asking us why did Fadnavis become the chief minister when we did not have a majority? He was speaking at a meeting in Uttara Kannada district on Sunday. “People asked us why did we do so much drama? On this, I want to say that a Chief Minister has access to 40 thousand crore rupees of the Centre,” he said.

“Fadnavis knew that if the ShivSena-NCP-Congress government was formed, it would misuse the funds earmarked for development. So this drama was done. Fadnavis became the Chief Minister and in 15 hours he sent 40 thousand crore rupees to the centre,” Hegde claimed.

Fadnavis refutes:

Meanwhile, after the news broke out, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that no such major policy decision has been taken by him as CM. “All such allegations are false,” he said. He also said that the only major decision that he took in those 80 hours was about the farmers’ compensation.

Fadnavis was the chief minister of Maharashtra for the shortest time

Fadnavis, who had been the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for 5 years, did not last even four days. Fadnavis was sworn in as the Chief Minister on November 23 based on a promise by Ajit Pawar. Ajit was made the Deputy Chief Minister. On the morning of 26 November, the Supreme Court ruled on the floor test and in the afternoon, within hours, Ajit Pawar and Fadnavis announced their resignation. Fadnavis was the shortest chief minister of the state. However, he has also been the second Chief Minister of the state, completing a five-year term.
