Bangkok| Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the ASEAN-India Summit on Sunday. Earlier, Modi joined the Aditya Birla Group in a program commemorating the group’s 50 years in global business. Addressing the crowd, he said that now is the best time to visit India. PM Modi said that in India, the Ease of Doing Business, ease of Living, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has increased. Productivity, infrastructure are developing. While tax rates, red tape, corruption have decreased.
Modi said India is now moving towards becoming a $ 5 trillion economy. “When my government took over in 2014, India’s GDP was the US $ 2 trillion. In five years we raised it to about $ 3 trillion. I assure you that the dream of a $ 5 trillion economy will be fulfilled soon,” Modi said.
Modi in Thailand to attend ASEAN Summit
Modi arrived in Thailand on a three-day visit on Saturday. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Modi was invited by Thai Prime Minister Praytu Chan-o-cha to attend the ASEAN Summit. Modi will also attend the East Asia and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Summit.

It will be PM Modi’s seventh ASEAN-India Summit and the Sixth East Asia Summit. Modi’s visit is aimed at further strengthening relations between India and ASEAN. During this time there will be several agreements. It also proposes to give a thousand PhD scholarships to students from ASEAN countries at IIT institutions of India.
In January last year, India hosted the 25th anniversary of the Indo-ASEAN Summit, attended by 10 ASEAN leaders. During this time, India announced that it would continue to work for the continued strengthening of the ASEAN-India Strategic Partnership.
