However, some critics also slammed PM Modi for calling ‘Tika Utsav’ amid complaints of vaccine shortages by some state government.
Vaccine Shortage in States
Many states, including Maharashtra, have claimed that there is a shortage of vaccine in the state. Two days ago, Maharashtra sounded an SOS saying that the state has vaccine doses that will suffice only for 3-4 days. After this, the Centre announced to send more than 17 Lakh vaccine doses to Maharashtra. Responding to the issue, PM Modi said that there are limitations on vaccine production in the country. He said, “Coronavirus cannot be eradicated by keeping the entire stock of vaccine in one state. We have to distribute the corona vaccine in all states.”
Yesterday, Maharashtra had alleged that the Centre is giving more vaccine doses to BJP-ruled states like Gujarat despite a population less than Maharashtra.
“Micro-containment Zone, Follow 3Ts”
Prime Minister Modi said that people have become more careless than before, in some states the administration is languishing. He said, “We have the resources, now there is also experience, 3Ts Testing, tracking and treatment, covid appropriate behaviour will help in bringing down the peak of infection. Stopping the infected person is the way to stop the virus, we have to increase the testing.” He also proposed the idea of Micro Containment Zones.
